I liked this ad because of the awesome imagery that perfectly captures the 1970’s 😂

I would’ve preferred this ad “bullet-ize” the copy….making bullet points for all the cool features like this:

  • Gives your hair more bulk and body.
  • Dual voltage so it works anywhere.
  • Easily handles a head full of wet hair.

However just because of this guys awesome hair and smile I kind of want to frame this!

Saw this interesting way to look at finding business ideas:

That’s kind of neat because you can easily see all Subreddits ranked by users like this:

While many of these might be a dead end, anytime you can serve a community of 50,000+ there’s some opportunity.

 
 

I thought this was a fun little thing:

A bachelorette party at an AirBnB near me put a Venmo address on their car to buy the bride a drink 😂

I bet this worked to some degree, and also created some fun shenanigans for them!

One of my friends Nick Gray threw a get together, but wanted something kind of unique, so he hired a small petting zoo 🐇

In the late 90’s comedian Kevin Hart would perform at a club, then stand outside after the show, talk to everyone who was in the audience, and get their email address.

Next time he was in town he’d email everyone about the shows.

Dude was on email marketing SUPER early!

Here’s a Mental Model I call “Get closer to the money.”

Explanation:
If you’re a bank that loans money, the way you make profit is by taking a cut. Let’s say 2%:

2% of $10,000 = $200
2% of $100,000 = $2,000

As the money amounts go up, the bank gets a bigger cut. This means you are tied to the upside of your customer.

 

How to use it:
Think about the value proposition of what you’re selling, and see how you can directly make people (or businesses) more money. If you’re closely tied to their success, then your hard work making their business grow pays off.

 

Example:
Meh: “I design eCommerce websites for $50/hour.”

Good: “I manage your eCommerce store and website and charge a packaged rate.”

Better: “I will be a managing partner in your eCommerce store and take 10% of all profits.”
